WaterSense, a water efficiency program launched by the Envrionmental Protection Agency, is designed to educate Americans to make smart water choices that save money and maintain high environmental standards without compromising performance.  The WaterSense label is easily identified on products that perform more efficiently than their counterparts.  To qualify for the WaterSense label, manufacturers must obtain third-party verification that their high-efficiency products achieve the standards of the EPA.

Low-flow toilets

Non water-conserving toilets consume an average of 20 gallons of water per person, per day and represent about 30% of  indoor household water use.  Low-flow toilets reduce consumption by 20% or more which translates to a savings of 1500 gallons per person, per year.

High-efficiency Faucets (HEF’s)

Standard faucets flow at 2.2 or more gallons per minute (gpm) and represent 15% of indoor home water usage.  WaterSense-labeled HEF’s use no more than 1.5 gpm reducing the flow by 30% without sacrificing performance
