Our Favorite Things

In the “new” economy we are all looking for ways to save money and do more with less.   Here are a number of household products that we recommend from personal experience.   These are especially helpful if you are doing your own house cleaning or cooking at home more often to save money.

1.  Hoover Steam Vac:  Everyone should own one of these.   I bought one soon after I was laid off from my  corporate job as a way to save money.   I was blown away by how well it worked and how easily it cleaned carpets, tile floors and upholstery.   I have lent mine to a number of friends all of whom have raved about the results.   I am not in any way associated with the Hoover company, I am just passing on a recommendation from a happy customer.

2.  Ina Garten’s Back to Basics Cookbook:  My partner gave me this cookbook for Christmas and we have been completely absorbed in trying out the recipes since then.   Ina Garten, The Barefoot Contessa, has captured the spirit of the moment with a cookbook that provides guidance for creating amazing and fulfilling meals using ingredients that most people have in their pantry or refrigerator on a regular basis.  The concept is brilliant and the execution delivers on the promise of the initial concept.  We just served the egg fritatta to our out-of-town guests.  It was amazing and so simple to make.  Buy this cookbook.

3.  Dyson Vacuum Cleaner:  I highly recommend that you make the investment to buy his product.   You will not believe how much easier vacuuming is with a light-weight, flexible and easy-to-empty vacuum cleaner.    It is well worth the $500 investment.  Once again, these are objective consumer testimonials and not in any way connected with the parent company.
